Cuatrociénegas Scientific Research Center

The logo of the CICC was designed by J. Antonio Reyes Solis, local archaeologist employed by INAH and stationed in Cuatrociénegas. It depicts components of major taxonomic (vertebrate, invertebrate and botanical) and habit (aquatic and terrestrial) groups of native and endemic organisms found in the valley, as well as the past and present footprint of humans in the valley's ecosystem. The logo thus represents all forms of research ongoing and required to assure sustainability of the delicate and globally important Cuatro Ciénegas ecosystem. Finally, the striking, surprising and beautiful colors of the imaginary lizard, that is the focal component of the artwork, represent the many unknown and surprising facts remaining to be uncovered by researchers working in this fascinating and beautiful valley.

El diseño del logotipo del CICC fue realizado por el arqueólogo J. Antonio Reyes Solís, quién radica en Cuatrociénegas como empleado del INAH. El logotipo muestra importantes componentes taxonómicos (vertebrados, invertebrados y vegetales) y de los hábitats (acuáticos y terrestres) de algunos grupos de organismos nativos o endémicos que se encuentran en el valle. También muestra las huellas pasadas y presentes de los humanos que han surcado la región. Así el logo representa todas las formas de investigación que se hacen y requieren para asegurar la sustentabilidad del ecosistema de Cuatrociénegas, caracterizado por su fragilidad e importancia global. Finalmente, los colores llamativos y sorprendentes de la lagartija imaginaria, que es el componente artístico focal, representa todo lo desconocido y las sorpresas que todavía restan por descubrir a los investigadores que trabajan en este valle hermoso y fascinante.
